Material Overview

Polycarbonate (PC) is a widely used thermoplastics known for its toughness and heat resistance. These properties make PC ideal for a range of applications including conceptual modeling, functional prototyping and production parts. It is also ideal for quickly producing tooling for applications such as hydroforming due to the materials high tensile strength, natural porosity and lubricity.

Forge Labs uses Polycarbonate by Stratasys which offers exceptional part accuracy, durability and stability over standard PC. Forge Labs PC parts are 3D printed on the Stratasys Fortus series machines, which offers the industries highest tolerances, throughput and repeatability.

3D printed parts in Polycarbonate are produced using Fused Deposition Modeling technology, which is anisotropic as a result of the printing process. Therefore mechanical properties as well as surface finish can vary depending on orientation. Our technicians will select the most optimized print orientation for your design.
